Wahoo! Maternity Skirts!
When I found out I was pregnant, I was very excited to live in skirts this summer. However, I really wanted to sew them. Well, last week on Whip Up, there was a tutorial for making Maternity Skirts. To say I was thrilled was a vast understatement!
Last year for Mother’s Day, I bought myself some great fabric from Hancocks of Paducah. I fully intended on making myself a skirt with it, but never got around to it. I made a dress for A for Christmas with it, and the rest has just sat there, waiting so patiently for me.
On Saturday night, J and I sat down, made a pattern and I made this skirt. I am THRILLED with it, and have 2 more already cut out (I just need to get more elastic and knit fabric for the top).
So…check it out!!! Oh and a picture of A in her dress too
Happy Birthday Baby!
Today my sweet A turned 2. She woke up so happy and we told her Happy Birthday! She was just so excited to be the birthday Princess (Pincess) all day too! We went to the store, took S to swim lessons, came home and had lunch then went to the pool. After swimming we had pizza, cake and ice cream and she and S crashed! It was a good, good day.
Happy Birthday to my sweet girl. You are such a joy and an angel in my life. You make each day so fun! I love how sassy and sweet you are, how much you love your Daddy and brother, and how you take care of all of us. You truly are the light of my life. I love you baby girl!
I LOVE these kids!
We let A open her birthday presents tonight. J has to go into work early in the morning and I can’t stand making her wait all day
Here are a few pictures. They crack me up. She and her baby have matching dresses, but you can’t see hers. She wouldn’t try it on. It shouldn’t surprise me, my children rarely wear anything I make for them. Oh well, they sure are cute!
Oh, and S went for a walk tonight wearing the shoes and carrying the purse. He is such a nut. The funniest was when he would run. I about peed my pants!
Ah, quiet Sunday
A is sleeping, S and J are playing, so I get to blog! I just finished a dress for A’s birthday tomorrow, I’ll post pictures soon. It has lots of gathers, which scare me and now I remember why. I just don’t enjoy gathering. Sorry Mom, I tried!
I finished A’s Wonderful Wallaby also, but it is just too blasted hot to take pictures of it yet. So, you’ll have to wait
Here are some shots of what I’ve been up to lately. First, the Market. This has been taking up every Saturday for us, and we really enjoy it. Here are some pictures of my booth yesterday.
Mama Made Sling! I love this one (so do the kids!)
Ok, so when I started this post, it was quiet. About 2 minutes into it, A woke up, J and S came upstairs and chaos broke loose. So…more pictures of A’s birthday and birthday dress tomorrow (or actually probably Tuesday).
Hope you all are having a nice and relaxing weekend!
Holy Crap Batman!
So, I’m downstairs working on a sling and J says, “hey, come here!”. We go into the kids playroom and he tells me there is a SWAT team outside with guns! I said, forget inside, I’m going out to see what’s going on!
They were in the backyard of the house make that trailer, next door. I watched from the front window and when they all congregated in the front of the house, I went out and asked if there is something we should be concerned about. One of the guys came over and asked if I’d seen anyone there recently. I told him that thankfully, I think they got kicked out about a month ago. The only person I’d seen there was the landlord. He showed me a picture of someone and asked if that was a guy that I’d seen there. I told him yeah, he used to hang out there a lot. Apparently there is a warrant out for his arrest. I’m guessing he did something big with 10 cops coming after him!
I’m glad that I haven’t seen any of them in a while, but still it was a bit freaky to see all those cops swarming the trailer next door at 9:30 at night!
Oh, and for those of you who don’t know…no, we don’t live in a trailer. In the town where we live, it isn’t uncommon for a trailer to be in a residential neighborhood. It was built about 50 years ago, and is grandfathered in with the zoning laws. I hate it, and want to buy it so we can increase the property values of our entire neighborhood. Anyone want to donate to that fund?
Where Does the Time Go?
Yesterday my Bub turned 4. When Jer asked him how it felt to be 4, he looked down at himself, looked at us very confused and announced, “Wait! I’m still the same size!”. Poor kid thought he was going to magically be bigger on his 4th birthday!!!
He had a great day though. We had a party planned for him with all his friends, but, A woke up on Sunday morning throwing up and continued throughout the day and into Monday morning. So, we’ve rescheduled it for tomorrow. At first he was really upset because he thought that meant he wouldn’t have a birthday on Monday. Once we explained that it would still be his birthday, and we could do other things, he was much better with it. We’re sad because a few of his friends can’t make it on Wednesday, but it’s better than getting everyone else sick!
So, we had a treasure hunt for his presents in the morning (a great way to start off a Pirate birthday!), had pirate pancakes, went to the grocery store (what a trooper..on his birthday even!), had lunch at McDonald’s (one of the 2 times a year we go), went and saw Kung Fu Panda, then came home, played outside, had a spaghetti dinner and cake and ice cream. He told me it was the best birthday ever.
He’s such a sweet boy and I am so lucky to be his Mom. Here are a few photos of my boy, with the last ones being of his birthday.
I’m still here
Life has been so super crazy this month. My Grama died on May 9th, I went to Nebraska for a week with A and 3 of my siblings for the funeral. It was insane.
We got home, started to get settled and my folks came into town (from NE) for my nephew’s high school graduation. They stayed with us for 3 days, and we had a great time.
While my folks were here we got 2 new additions to our family, Gracie and Sandy. They are 8 week old kittens and are just so sweet. A brother – sister pair, they have fun together. However, they are often seen running from and hiding from the kids. S loves to hold and walk around with Gracie. A likes to try to hold and walk around with Sandy, but she isn’t as sneaky as S is, so I am often heard saying, “Put Sandy DOWN!”.
I promise I’ll update more soon, with pictures even! Lots of Market sewing going on, dresses, shorts, headbands, slings…it’s so much fun!!!
